Are you looking to build knowledge and develop within the Risk Division?An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Model Risk and Validation team (formerly RMAT) in Risk. The role will give you responsibility for independent model review and validation primarily for Credit Risk models across the Commercial Division, but with some flexibility to work across the other MRAV teams. The scope of models is wide and can cover Lending, Regulatory models (CRDiv), Impairment (IFRS9), Pricing and Stress Testing.The role provides a superb opportunity to develop areas of knowledge relating to the Group's modelling capability and build a strong network of contacts.

About Model Risk and Validation (MRAV) team at Lloyds

Join us in Commercial MRAV, where we're responsible for ensuring that all Commercial models remain continually fit for purpose and compliant with internal governance and external regulations. This role provides the opportunity to gain detailed and wide-ranging experience in all the models used in the CB credit risk function from Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SME) to Global Corporates. The models used include Basel (Capital), IFRS 9 (impairment), pricing/profitability, stress testing and forecasting

About the role

You'll provide technical support to MRAV portfolio leads to ensure credit risk models are fit for purpose via

  • Independent reviews of new models, model changes and annual validation
  • Issue escalation and raising and closing of actions where appropriate
  • You'll also gain and an awareness of model plans/strategies/roadmaps, including infrastructure and end-to-end processes
  • We'll support you to seek out, propose, and play an active role in implementing new insights and processes
  • You'll contribute to the revision, improvement and embedding of the model governance framework, including best practice and standards, both internal and external to MRAV

As well as upward progression, future career options that can become available include:

  • Further model review experience in MRAV such as Retail, market risk, etc.
  • Credit risk management in the business (due to the close interaction with the business required)
  • Model development
  • Other central functions such as capital management, strategy & planning, or stress testing

Key Skills Required

Essential

  • Degree in Mathematics, Statistics or related discipline that contains a significant proportion of content covering statistical theory and/or analysis.
  • Broad awareness of the techniques and applications of Risk Models

Desirable

  • Ability to communicate on complex issues, verbally and in writing.
  • An ability to understand new concepts or environments quickly.
  • Lateral problem solver - an ability to consider options beyond those presented.
