Overall purpose of role
This role is for a technical Business Analyst to support the Project Eagle Models project team to deliver new requirements for new EAD and LGD Models.
The candidate will work closely with Risk and QA teams to monitor, identify, analyse, communicate and support the requirements analysis and implementation. The candidate will independently drive the components they are responsible for, and depending on the task will provide mentoring and support to junior analysts in the team. The candidate will also work on a migration project to move the infrastructure from a legacy platform to a strategic system.

About RFT

Risk, Finance and Treasury (\"RFT\") is a global team of around 4000 spanning 12 countries. The goal is to deliver a simplified and standardised architecture across these functions, utilising existing \'best in class\' technology components to support the delivery of a robust end-to-end control environment, reduce operating costs and support capital efficiency to meet known regulatory requirements and prepare for future change.

The team is working towards standardising processes with consistent data requirements and improve end-to-end controls across RFT. We will also rationalise the IT architecture and reduce technical debt through the decommissioning of legacy applications and application consolidation.

Key Accountabilities
Liaise with Business and other Technology teams across Barclays to investigate and understand new requirement and improve existing processes. Specifically:

  • Work with Risk, QA and Business teams to determine and document clear and concise new business/functional requirements through meetings/workshops.
  • Liaise with the Design authority and IT teams firm-wide to ensure that all new components fit within guiding principles.
  • Follow good processes and practices, as defined by the team standards; ensuring that documentation is complete, comprehensive and signed off.
  • Assist the project team to document business logics being implemented in SQL scripts.
  • Ability to independently investigate data issues raised by business teams, utilise Jira to clearly record the root cause, and liaise with dev team to test and implement fix.
  • Review documentation and provide feedback for components that are being implemented on the project.
  • Participate in the testing cycle and own the resolution of defects pertaining to requirement and design clarifications.
  • Participate in the biweekly sprint prioritization meetings with business.
  • Ability to work independently and to tight deadlines.
  • Raise key issues and risks in a timely manner to the Project Manager/Delivery Lead.

Person Specification

  • A minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in sourcing and analysing data for risk and finance projects.
  • Experience in delivering projects using the agile methodology.
  • Experience in data warehouse, data modelling, and good understanding of entity relationship modelling.
  • Proficiency in SQL queries to extract, analyse and reconcile data.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Credit Risk data domain, prior knowledge of AIRB preferred.
  • Experience in handling client data and ability to provide analysis in a clear manner .
  • Excellent organisational skills and self motivated.
  • Goal focused, demonstrating tenacity and innovation when faced with challenges.
  • Constantly challenges the status quo; looks for more efficient ways of producing results.
  • Mentor new members and junior analysts with respect to guidance and leadership.
  • Persistent, diligent and able to accept and drive change.

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree from a top university.
  • Understanding of data concepts and being able to perform data analysis using SQL Server/Excel
  • Regular and confident interaction with end-users and customers.

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional qualifications (e.g. CFA, FRM)
  • Focussed on delivering strategic solutions for the business.
