The Role

As Business Continuity & Risk Manager you will work closely with the management teams of all Ofcom Groups to support the development and management of their business continuity planning and risk management objectives. You will become a valued, respected and trusted partner to the business. You will have real ownership of your specialism, actively supporting business initiatives, sharing best practice and delivering valued guidance.

You'll be responsible for developing and implementing plans and strategies to keep the company business running after disruptive events
You'll keep the contingency machinery in 'ready' mode at all times so that rapid action can be taken for loss mitigation and asset protection in the event of any disruption.
You'll collaborate with the departments of Ofcom in order to ensure that regulatory obligations are satisfied to protect the assets of the company in case of disruption.
You'll be setting up a system for timely identification and resolution of issues before they increase into disruptive problems.
You'll prepare a contingency training program and impart organisation level training to all employees to deal with any unforeseen business disruption.
You'll conduct periodic reviews of the existing Business Continuity Plans and make necessary suggestions and recommendations to the top level management.
You'll assist the Head of Risk Management and Insurance with responsibility for the risk management process within Ofcom, liaising with the management and project teams to ensure that Group risk registers are reviewed and updated regularly.
You'll work with the Head of Risk Management and Insurance to ensure risks are escalated where appropriate and that the integrity of the risk process is maintained.
You'll oversee the completion of a annual review of the Ofcom's business continuity planning.
You'll lead the annual cross business Major Incident exercise.
You'll collaborate with the H&S Manager and Information Security Manager as a team to create Ofcom's Risk Management function.

Skills, Knowledge, Experience

You'll be a member of a recognised professional body, either the Business Continuity Institute, the Institute of Risk Management, or AIRMIC.
You'll have expertise and practical experience of business continuity and risk management
You'll have the ability to work with senior executives across the business to achieve effective business continuity planning throughout Ofcom
You'll have experience of working in a matrix organisation.
You'll have the ability to spot threats to achieving Ofcom's objectives, and how to protect Ofcom from those threats
You'll have the ability to cut through complex issues to see and communicate the bigger picture
You'll have the ability to support all group functions in Ofcom, in a pragmatic manner, to ensure resilience and effective risk management
You'll have strong networking and consulting skills.
You'll be able to work across different departments and at different management levels.
You'll be able to demonstrate experience in handling a variety of stakeholders in different environments
You'll have strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills, including cultural awareness, so that you can establish and maintain good working relationships internally
You'll have strong project management skills, including the ability to manage a varied and demanding workload and to prioritise effectively in an agile manner, being flexible and adaptable to changing or ambiguous circumstances
You'll have A demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, concisely and confidently to a variety of audiences, both orally and in written form
You'll have the ability to work independently, seeking guidance whenever it is needed, as well as to work collaboratively within a team.
