Our client a well-established retail bank is currently looking for a Chief Risk Officer to join their team for a 2 year Fixed Term Contract.
The main purpose of the role is to monitor and to have responsibility for the robust and sound management of the Bank's risk profile and overall compliance.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 15 years' experience of working within Risk Management in the Financial Services sector with a focus on a holistic risk management process for the Bank including but not limited to operational risk, market risk, liquidity risk and conduct risk.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Provide reports concerning the Bank's risk management, strategies, processes and controls to relevant committees and senior management.
• Receive reports from business units concerning credit, liquidity, market, balance sheet and operational risk in order to oversee risks and aggregate overall risk position to Executive Management.
• Oversee risk associated with individual high risk and non-accrual accounts
• Reporting of any violation or excesses/breaches above agreed limits with PRA following consultation with Senior Management and approval of relevant forums within the Bank.
• Receive/prepare annual reviews for risk policies and procedures manuals for review and recommendations for Internal Audit and Risk Committee consideration, Executive Management Committee, Steering Committee and Board's approval.
• Prepare and provide the annual review of the ICAAP, ILAAP and RRP documents and their relevant base case
• Liaise with other departmental managers (as appropriate) advising the pre-notified limits as per the PRA confirmation to revise, suspend, reduce, increase or cancel according to the approvals given.
• Ensure the timely submission of all annual and other periodic returns to the PRA/FCA including the regular submission of all Financial Control returns to the PRA/FCA.
Skills and knowledge:
• Strong technical knowledge as well as an ability to translate this into practical solutions for the Bank.
• Leadership skills including the ability to manage risk and control activities in a financial operation and including an extensive understanding of Operational, Market, Liquidity and Conduct Risk.
• Considerable knowledge and experience of best practice risk management and governance frameworks, methodologies and emerging practice in relation to the UK financial services.
• The ability to work closely with senior management by conveying and explaining operational or business information fluently and coherently in one-to-one and group situations.
• Good communication (both verbal and written) and presentation skills in particular targeting the relevant business area with a clear message
