A large healthcare organisation is looking to appoint a Clinical Governance Lead - Risk on an interim basis for 3 months.

The role will be working in the East Midlands on a band 8a, inside IR35. The hourly rate will be: £34.65.
The main purpose of the role will be to pilot a new National Framework for investigating incidents, to assist with launch in the Division and lead the Governance team and agenda.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring that there are effective structures and processes in place, implement and continuously monitor the Clinical Governance activity across the Division;
  • Facilitate and enable Organisational compliance with the national requirements and standards set by the Clinical Commissioning Groups, Care Quality Commission and other regulators;
  • Provide leadership and specialist advice, support and feedback on matters relating to clinical governance, including patient safety, clinical risk assessments, and health and safety governance to all grades of staff including both management and clinicians within the relevant Business Unit(s) and Division;
  • Lead on the investigation of all serious incidents (SIs), and internal incidents requiring a higher level of investigation, ensuring that all incidents are reported and effectively investigated (using root cause analysis principles and tools) in line with requirements and timescales;
  • Provide reports to key committees regarding clinical incidents and near misses to inform relevant decision-making;
  • Develop, maintain and monitor an integrated and dynamic risk register, which will assist in the prioritisation of risk;
  • Monitoring activity to provide assurance that local structures are effective, escalating issues as appropriate and that there is a healthy reporting culture in place.
A successful candidate will have:
  • Significant experience at a senior level of clinical governance management, or equivalent in a Health or Social care setting;
  • Experience within Clinical Effectiveness, Clinical Audit, Risk Management;
  • Excellent understanding of NHS agenda particularly in field of governance and risk management;
  • Knowledge of and working within: NICE, CQUINNS, Serious incident framework, COSHH, Risk assessments;
  • Working knowledge of resources required to undertake a root cause analysis investigation eg time line, fish bone, contributory factors framework.
