ESG Specialist (Climate Risk - Modelling) Senior Manager opportunity, in London, salaried up to £110,000pa.

Significant growth plans as well as adaptations to current global developments in ESG/Climate Risk space have provided an opportunity to join one of the first climate risk focused team builds in the City.

Your new role
One of the first vacancies like this in the City, this role will require you to provide subject matter expertise on climate risk in the context of risk modelling and measurement, stress testing, risk management, strategy, and regulatory expectations. This will include developing materials, tools and methodologies to support the climate risk proposition for use in client meetings, engagements, events, and broader thought leadership as well as collaborating with global stakeholders on the development and coordination of climate risk offerings. You will need to build and cultivate strong business relationships as well as identify new opportunities and develop these with existing clients, contributing to and/or managing the development of proposals. You will be required to manage the preparation, delivery, reporting and evaluation of engagements, including managing the risks of the project. As a Senior manager within this space, you will need to take a leading role in developing team members to their full potential and promoting collaboration among larger teams as well as provide advanced technical knowledge, direction and training to others and participate in team practice decisions such as resource allocation.

What you'll need to succeed
To be a successful candidate for leading up this new team, you will need at least 7 years' experience working in a credit risk modelling role within a financial or professional services firm with practical experience in credit risk modelling. In addition to this, you'll need experience in managing teams of 6-10 people as well as a strong analytical, science and/or mathematical-based background with ability and interest in applying that expertise to develop climate risk models. You'll need a practical working knowledge and experience of model development/validation and a basic understanding of the risks faced by financial services due to climate change and how it may impact a Bank's loan portfolio. Knowledge and understanding of banking regulations in relation to climate risk and experience of credit risk processes, governance and documentation will be key for success in this position. Undertaking or completion of relevant certification such as GARP's SCR will be highly advantageous.
