The Role:


The newly formed Marketing organisation will play a strategic role in taking the merged M&GPrudential organisation to market.


The Global Director of Marketing Risk and Controls role will report directly to the Chief Marketing Officer and will run one of the five Centres of Excellence (CoE) teams within the Marketing function. These CoEs are accountable for developing a global approach to a number of key areas including Brand, Digital Marketing, Client Experience, Investment Communication, Risk & Controls.


The Global Director of Marketing Risk and Controls will work collaboratively to create strategy, drive best practice and ensure consistency of approaches across a mix of client segments & geographies to create compliant marketing communications that lead to good customer outcomes across all channels and in all territories.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of specialist marketing compliance consultants to ensure all marketing and other external communications are compliant with policy, legislation and risk appetite
  • Develop the 1st line regulatory framework and quality standards for brand and marketing communications
  • Act as a subject matter expert in non-financial risk as they impact the future of M&GPrudential Marketing
  • Engage with the Investment Office and Investment Marketing teams ensuring the accurate interpretation of investment objectives and policies in marketing communications, developing and implementing guidelines at a product level where required
  • Take all reasonable steps to ensure the timely and appropriate resolution of control weaknesses, issues and operational failures arising within Marketing
  • Ensure actions, decisions and processes take account of risk appetite limits and the potential impact on the risk profile of the area, escalating any uncertainties to senior management
  • Implement effective internal controls to manage risks and maintain records reflecting compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Provide expert advice and guidance ensuring Marketing Leadership are robustly challenged on their approach to adhering to the Risk & Controls frameworks
  • Ensure appropriate training and competency arrangements are in place for the marketing quality and compliance consultants, and the wider marketing team to meet financial promotions, conduct risk and TCF requirements

You will have:

  • Significant risk experience of supporting the launch of new products and propositions as they relate to the financial services sector
  • An in-depth knowledge of financial services legislation, products and FCA financial promotions regulations
  • Practical experience of building online, digital and non-traditional models for financial advice in heavily regulated markets
  • Experience of managing the activities related to the planning, delivery, and reporting of all Risk and Compliance activity
  • Significant experience of negotiating and influencing, and effectively managing complex stakeholder relationships
  • Strong knowledge of Financial Promotions and associated regulatory requirements, with emphasis on marketing communications compliance knowledge across a range of product and distribution channels
  • Significant experience of risk and control environments, with strong regulatory and operational risk experience
  • Expert level knowledge of financial services regulatory and legislative frameworks
  • Advanced communication and negotiation skills in order to influence and persuade senior and executive management on the best course of risk management action
  • Excellent leadership, management and motivational skills
