Head of Change Risk Control and Assurance

Sitting in the Central Change team, this role is responsible for leading the design and delivery of a Change Assurance framework and approach. This includes the adherence of appropriate controls and governance across company to balance the need for rapid delivery against meeting regulatory and corporate standards for any change-related initiative. A team of three FTE will sit below this role

Key accountabilities & responsibilities:

  1. Oversees the development of a Quality Assurance approach and principles to be applied to all changes made across the UK&I organisation, supporting a reduction in change related failure
  2. Acts as a key sponsor across the company to embed the Quality Assurance approach and framework
  3. Oversees the design and implementation of a risk-based approach to assurance in line with the Enterprise Test Risk framework with focus on known failure points / processes including service introduction assurance
  4. Undertake independent reviews of the testing to ensure that appropriate evidence exist to support execution of the agreed testing approach and that the usability of the solution is of required quality for members and employees
  5. Act as an escalation point of contact for all Assurance issues across the change lifecycle and provide coaching and guidance in ensuring that the Quality Assurance Framework is applied appropriately for the change being delivered including overviewing change test approaches where needed
  6. Identifies and leads deep dives into change activities, ensuring quality is embedded across the change lifecycle including supporting the creation and completion of remediation activities as required
  7. Collaborates closely with the Change Methods and Capability team to develop and execute remediation plans, ensuring that better practice is shared and retain oversight that remediation activities have been completed to the appropriate level of quality
  8. Leads the development and implementation of a suite of indicators based on a risk approach to identify best assurance practice across the process

  • Trusted expert in change management, with relevant change management qualification
  • Expert influencing skills, able to shape the outcome to meet the needs of the broader organisation
  • Advanced collaboration skills, able to effectively bring together cross functional teams to deliver the required business outcomes
  • Exceptional communication and organisational skills, building effective relationships at all levels
  • Ability to drive and deliver change, adapting style and approach to ensure success through keen political awareness
  • Ability to challenge and act as an independent review
  • Able to engage, support and coach employees at all levels, gaining buy-in to the benefits of adoption of the assurance framework
  • Track record of successful application of governance to projects and programmes
