Job Purpose

The successful candidate must have proven experience of delivering a proactive Risk & Compliance Framework in a growing business.

  • Act as Compliance Officer & MLRO for MFP and the other FCA regulated entities within the Mazars group
  • Attendance at Board Meetings with responsible for and reporting to the Board on all aspect of risk within the business
  • A member of the Executive Committee for MFP involved in the decision making on current and future strategy
  • Represent MFP and the other FCA regulated entities on the Group Risk Committee for the LLP
  • Hold additional SMCR responsibilities for the FCA regulated entities, reporting to the Board for these responsibilities
Role & Responsibilities
  • Establish a comprehensive and effective risk and compliance framework with the emphasis on conduct and risk management, operational excellence and client centricity.
  • Map all the relevant risk, controls and compliance requirements against the company's new Target Operating Model.
  • Maintain a Risk Register as agreed at MFP Board level and which forms part of the wider Mazars group Risk Register
  • Creating and agreeing strategy for the risk management within the business
  • Responsible for the compliance and risk culture within the FCA regulated firms and the firms compliance with the SMCR regime
  • Provide leadership and help set the standards for quality across the business and ensure that these are monitored and maintained
  • Strategic oversight on all aspects of risk within the business including current and future project work
  • Production of Management Information relating to risk to enable Board level decisions on strategic and business as usual matters
  • Responsibility for establishing and delivering a comprehensive risk monitoring programme
  • Work with the wider accountancy business to ensure management of Ethics and Conflict of Interests in line with their internal and regulatory requirements
  • Effectively manage the compliance team staff by setting objectives, conducting regular one to ones and ensuring that the business continues to operate effectively.
  • Responsibility for growing the compliance team in line with the growth in business, developing individuals to ensure a comprehensive succession plan
  • Main firm contact with FCA, FOS and other regulatory bodies, with responsibility for ensuring that all regulatory reporting is completed as required
  • Work with all other business units including both the Investment Team and Operations Team to ensure that the risks within the business are minimised through an effective QC programme
  • Responsible for maintaining a comprehensive data security, GDPR and financial crime policy that complies with FCA requirements
  • Provide guidance to The Board and Executive on emerging risk
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • Previous experience as an FCA SMF 16 Compliance Officer & SMF 17 MLRO
  • Extensive knowledge of the FCA Handbook, rules and current guidance
  • Proven experience of risk management at this level with an FCA regulated firm
  • Board level experience
  • Previous experience of working with FCA, FOS and other regulatory bodies as a firm's main contact
  • Experience of working within a firm that hold DFM permissions
  • High level of leadership and management experience including transformation leadership
  • Self-motivation and commitment to the business - gets things done
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to take responsibility and ownership
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • To be able to create and manage change projects proficiently.
