This Charity and Not for Profit organisation is looking for a Head of Risk & Governance to provide the organisation and its' management, with independent assurance that operational and business support functions work effectively and continually progress towards the provision of outstanding services. The role is a newly created role and will support the Executive Director, Board Trustees, and wider Leadership Team.

The job:

The roles' main focus is to deliver high standards of compliance in governance matters and support the board in a regulated environment. As a newly-created role, there will be a large element of Risk and Governance review and project manage improvement in key areas, taking ownership of Corporate Governance matters and other areas such as data protection.

Key responsibilities:

Providing high-quality board support and committee meeting support

Advise and support the ELT in line with regulatory/company rules, risk management, and corporate governance

Ensure compliance with all legal regulatory and statutory requirements including specific regulatory frameworks

Act as the main point of contact for the board trustees on all matters Governance, Regulatory and Compliance

Ensure effective risk reporting to relevant stakeholders, providing analysis and insights for decision making

Proactively review the quality standards ensuring they are fit for purpose and met with/maintained across the business

Facilitate cross-functional working with both internal and external audit

Ad hoc Governance projects around changing regulations. Reviewing and maintaining risk and governance policy management systems are ensuring these are updated and embedded in line with any changes

Act as the DPO and Company secretary

Lead on the organisations' Information Management Strategy

Manage a small team, and develop in-house training and development for all staff around risk management and information management

This is a varied position whereby you will drive best practices in corporate governance, risk, and assurance to ensure the Executive Management and Trustees can meet their duties to the organisation, and business continuity is assured.

The Person

You must have a strong working knowledge of corporate governance principles with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills as you will be engaging with board members and key stakeholders

You will have a proven track record of successfully performing in a corporate governance role with excellent board support

You will ideally have or be working towards your ICSA qualification and any experience within the not for profit sector or public sector is preferred

Work Environment

The role can be fully WFH, with the North West offices available to use within COVID restrictions

The role is flexible to be part-time or full-time, depending on the individual applicant's level of experience
