Model Risk is a rapidly evolving risk type receiving an increasing amount of regulatory scrutiny. The Model Risk Control Team sit within Enterprise Wide Risk Management and provide oversight and control of model risk across Santander UK.

This role is a great opportunity for someone who would like to broaden and/or apply their high-level risk knowledge in a new environment.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting the team in the development and maintenance of the control environment for model risk within Santander UK.
  • Supporting the implementation and maintenance of controls that mitigate or reduce model risk.
  • Creating Model Risk Reporting and other management level reporting with a view to maintain and improve model risk appetite.
  • Supporting the evolution of model risk reporting, reviewing trends, providing commentary for BAU and ad-hoc reports for audiences up to and including Board.
  • Identifying opportunities to automate and improve the efficiency of current processes.
  • Developing strong stakeholder relationships to support the embedding of model risk management and culture.

What we're looking for

  • Degree level education in a numerical subject or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in creating management, data quality reporting/analysis using SAS, Excel, VBA or other similar programs.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, able to develop stakeholder engagement.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations surrounding modelling
  • Awareness of model governance and controls
  • Extensive analytical and problem-solving skills.

What else you need to know

Given the recent impact of the Coronavirus outbreak we will be conducting all interviews via telephone or video-conference where possible.

This is a 12-month FTC position which has the potential to be made permanent.

The role is based in Manchester but can be flexible with working from home.
