Operational Risk Analyst

This role can be office based in either Litchfield, Bolton, London, or remote working.

Basic salary up £40,000 depending on experience, plus bonus and exceptional benefits and excellent career progression.

Knowledge of the regulatory environment in the UK Financial Services sector is desirable along with any experience of working in a Wealth Management MiFID Investment Firm.

The purpose of this role it so to assist the Compliance Officer with the company's risk programme, framework, and risk management. This involves carrying out the day to day aspects of risk management and providing support to the business in implementing an effective risk management framework, control framework testing programme, risk assessment programme, and breach management process.

Candidate Skills

* Educated to degree level or qualified by experience with proven experience of working in a similar role.

* Have a detailed understanding of the scope of business risk responsibilities.

* Proven practical experience of the completion and maintenance of risk registers.

* Experience working as part of an operational risk based controls testing programme.

* Proven experience of conducting risk and control assessments.

* Ability to apply both commercial judgement and regulatory compliance to decision making.

* Highly numerical with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and SharePoint.

* Ability to work collaboratively is a small team and work, whilst using your own initiative and work unsupervised in a proactive manner.

* Able to communicate clearly with key stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally with a confident manner, both written and verbally.

* Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

* Positive attitude with a flexible and adaptable approach to work in an ever changing environment, quick to learn and make a positive contribution to the company.

Desirable Skills

* Investment Operations Certificate (IOC)

* Diploma in Investment Compliance or the Investment Management Certificate (IMC).

* Completed or working towards an appropriate risk management qualification.

Duties

* You will support the day to day management of Enterprise risk to include key risk management activities such as: support the business in Risk Event reporting, resolution, root cause analysis, risk control self-assessment, business/project risk assessment and developing Key Risk Indicators.

* Assist with preparing the information required by the risk committee to help it fulfil its function and the design of appropriate metrics and regularly review risk areas.

* Provide assurance to the board and committees on the quality of the operational controls across the group, including but not limited to preparing MI for the meetings.

* Assist in the development and implementation of the risk assessment and control framework review programmes.

* Assist with the investigation of risk events, identify resolution and conduct RCA.

* Work closely with individual teams to understand the root causes of breaches, where improvements can be made to reduce and/or prevent breach occurrence.

* Involvement in the process of embedding the risk management framework and control framework throughout the business areas and contribute to the risk and control culture of the organization.

* Work on various projects and assist with the implementation of the risk management framework as well as with the update and maintenance of the risk policies and procedures.

* Provide challenge and recommend improvements to processes and controls across the firm.

* Maintain key risk management spreadsheets and registers and complete general administrative tasks
