Operational Risk Data Analyst

Risk is now firmly at the heart of Santander - that\'s where you\'ll be if you join our team as an Operational Risk Data Analyst. This role is part of the Second Line of Defence, where you\'ll be using your data analytics skills to understand the risks faced by Santander. Helping to manage risk for one of the UK\'s high-profile financial institutions, this is an exciting and rewarding role for someone wishing to develop an Operational Risk career and would be particularly suited to a new graduate.

What you\'ll be doing

  • Performing monthly processes to ensure that Santander\'s losses are accurately recorded in our Loss Database
  • Performing data quality controls and identifying potential process improvements, to ensure that our Loss Database meets regulatory expectations and industry best practice
  • Analysing a wide range of Operational Risk data to identify trends, themes and new sources of risk, and recommending actions to address
  • Producing insightful reporting for Senior Management (Exco Level), highlighting areas of concern including where there is potential for the Board\'s Risk Appetite to be breached
  • Supporting the production of accurate and timely reporting to our Regulators, in line with regulatory requirements
  • Engaging with a wide range of stakeholders across the organisation to drive improvements

What we\'re looking for

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, in particular Excel.
  • Awareness of Operational Risk and the Operational Risk framework or a willingness to learn.
  • A self-starter who Identifies issues and creates solutions to drive continual efficiency.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write clear and concise reports / outputs
  • Ability to deal effectively with colleagues, using sound interpersonal skills and communicating well through a range of media using appropriate language (e.g., phone, face to face, e-mail).

What else you need to know

Given the recent impact of the Coronavirus outbreak we will be conducting all interviews via telephone or video-conference where possible.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract.
