An exciting opportunity has arisen to work for a Healthcare Service Provider as a Patient Safety & Risk Manager.

The post will be working in the Northwest on an interim basis for 3 months between a band 7 - 8a. The role can be full time or part time working fully remotely.

The post holder will be responsible for leading and facilitating the development of risk management and patient safety across the organisation.

Main Responsibilities:

Enhance the provision of healthcare to patients through support of the delivery of the organisation's risk, quality, and patient safety agenda;
Participate in organisation-wide developments in patient safety;
Provide leadership and professional advice to staff on patient safety and risk management;
Under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager, maintain an incident reporting system which fulfils internal and external reporting requirements;
Ensure compliance with Being Open and the Duty of Candour in respect of patient safety incidents, providing support for staff to ensure that the duties of the organisation are met;
Support effective incident investigations at an appropriate level, using root cause analysis methodology as necessary;
Contribute to reports for the Board of Directors, assurance committees and any other appropriate committees and groups as required;
Support organisational responses to external bodies ensuring that all information is quality checked and incidents rated in accordance with the organisation's healthcare's risk matrix before circulation, e.g. incident reports, action plans and the submission of evidence as required for regulatory purposes;
Contribute to the effective integration of patient safety/clinical risk with other quality, governance, and assurance initiatives, including inquests, litigation, and complaints;
Responsible for the efficient dissemination of patient safety related information across the organisation, including the robust management of patient safety alert;
Deputise for the Quality Assurance Manager and Director of Governance as appropriate, ensuring continuation of the governance team functions;
Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on own, and teams, activities and making suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the team's performance.
The ideal candidate will have:

Must have a degree-level healthcare related qualification, or equivalent experience;
Significant proven experience working in a patient safety or risk management environment/role;
Demonstrable experience in reporting, investigating and management of incidents, including root cause analysis;
Experience of developing, implementing, and participating in training programmes;
Up-to-date knowledge of the clinical governance agenda, particularly patient safety issues;
Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Duty of Candour;
Ability to deal with difficult situations and conflict, remaining calm, assertive, fair, and diplomatic.
