The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is the estate expert for Defence, supporting the armed forces to enable military capability by planning, building, maintaining, and servicing infrastructure.

Our responsibilities include:
• Plan and deliver major capital projects and lifecycle refurbishment
• Provide utilities services
• Manage soft facilities management (i.e. cleaning and catering)
• Provide a safe place to train
• Allocate Service Families Accommodation
• Procure and manage routine maintenance and reactive repair
• Provide a central register of asset information to advise infrastructure planning

Job description

The Challenge
The Post Holder is responsible to the Major Programmes and Projects (MPP) Delivery Continuity Team (DCT) Planning and Risk Managers for delivering the management of planning and risk across the DCT Portfolio and its associated Programmes and Projects. The post holder will be responsible for initiating, supporting and reporting on the delivery of planning and risk management across the DCT Portfolio, programmes and individual projects in accordance within the Knowledge in Defence (KiD) including supporting engagement with the Project Teams and Approving Authorities.

ResponsibilitiesMain Responsibilities
The Post Holder is responsible for providing planning and risk support as summarised in the tasks outlined below:

• Support the planning managers in developing Programme and Project Plans in accordance with the DCT Planning Programme Management Plans
• Lead on maintaining Level 0 Programme/Project Plans, DCT L0 Plan and the DCT 10-year Portfolio Plan
• Support the planning and risk managers in providing ad-hoc and formal reports including analysis of Project/Programme progress and the top risks, issues and opportunities for cost and programme to the Operations Manager, Programme/Project Managers, Hd DCT and DCT B1 subcommittee
• Support the Planning Managers in delivering the DCT Command Infrastructure Delivery Plan (CIDP) inputs and deliverables (progress and updates)
• Support the risk managers in maintaining Project/Programme risk, issues and opportunities registers, including support the identification of mitigation actions
• Support the analysis and production of relevant up to date data to enable assurance to the Operations Manager, Programme/Project Managers and senior stakeholders on Programme/project progress to the 2* Customer Delivery Committee (CDC), 1* Hd DCT Management Committee and DCT B1 Sub-committee
• Support the planning and risk managers in ensuring planning and risk management records and configuration control are kept up to date and are robust to support internal and external audits and MPA/OGC Gateway Reviews
• Support the planning and risk managers in the Peer Review/Verification of Project Plans and Risk Registers to support approvals process
• Develop strong working relationships with Commercial, Finance and other DIO and MOD SME areas
• Support meetings and briefings with Programme/Project Managers, Project and Senior Leaders within DCT, MPP, DIO, and the approving Authorities and where applicable/required Treasury and Cabinet Office

It would be beneficial to the candidate to have experience of working in a programme and project environment, experience of working with Office 365 (Excel and Microsoft Project) and to be a communicator who can tailor and adapt their language and communication styles to suit differing audiences.

A track record of working with stakeholders to share knowledge information and learning in delivering good practice within a team/organisation would also be beneficial.
