A product safety or regulatory executive with a focus in toxicology is urgently required to provide toxicological and risk assessment support for the assessment and evaluation or products within the R&D function of a global company. As a toxicologist in product safety you will working alongside a large team of regulatory professionals and toxicologists to influence the direction of projects and will be responsible for identifying, leading & actioning the toxicological science program (desk-based research, testing approaches, methods, data generation etc.) that can unlock these innovations helping to achieve the desired business value growth and help to support commercial launches.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Work closely with product development teams as a knowledgeable, enabling partner, providing feedback at all stages of the projects that helps set their direction
* Identify the appropriate safety science and experimental toxicology programme that will deliver against the broad ranging toxicological needs of new products.
* Deliver complex programmes on new ingredients and new benefit areas to enable an acceptable use level across our different platforms and new forms
* Author, review and sign off risk assessments as part of the toxicological evaluation of new ingredients, technologies and materials
* Work closely with the science teams on the supply/manufacturing considerations for these new categories and determine how these can influence and shape approaches.
* Build a broad external network and keep connected with the external literature/data & methodologies to help shape the programme.
* Ensure these new data and sources can support and supplement the data required to enable risk assessment

* Identify and work to secure the resource requirements required to deliver the programme. Manage the research budget and prioritisation choices on testing requirements
* Work as one team with UK and US Consumer Product Safety colleagues, seamlessly supporting the business and making best use of the various areas of expertise.
QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE:
* Degree (or equivalent) in Biological Sciences, Chemistry or Toxicology.
* MSc in Toxicology advantageous
* Exp in toxicological risk assessment
* Demonstrable post-graduate experience in a product safety role, or equivalent and toxicology.
* In depth experience applying the principles of toxicology & risk assessment to support product safety
* Strong stakeholder manager with proven ability to influence cross-functionally in senior forums and challenging environments.
* Proven oral and written communication skills, proactive and simple.
* Ability to tailor scientific communications to different audiences.
* Strategic thinker developing future state & vision; creative, collaborative, entrepreneurial, dynamic, tenacious
* Beneficial - experience in oral products
* European Registered Toxicologist status or DABT (Diplomate American Board of Toxicology)
35 hours per week. Full Time. 1 year contract - prorate benefits - Benefits Package Includes Pension, 5 weeks holiday (pro rata), Share save and share reward schemes- all prorata, Accident and medical insurance, subsidised catering.
