An enticing opportunity has arisen for a Risk and Governance Manager aligned to the Quotemehappy.com (QMH) and General Accident (GA) business based in Aviva\'s Digital Garage in London.

QMH is a low-cost digital self-service insurer, distributing primarily through Price Comparison Websites (PCW). Our ambition is to be regarded as the Amazon of Insurance, delighting customers with 100% online digital self-service. We\'re looking for someone who sees the potential in this role, how QuoteMeHappy.com is different from other businesses.

This role will help ensure good customer outcomes and protect the business by providing dedication to risk and control challenge, mentorship and support.

What are the duties & responsibilities?

You will be responsible for managing, developing and maintaining the first line of defence risk & governance function within the QMH/GA Business.

This will be achieved through your domain knowledge, the development of effective and efficient risk management, embedding of controls, knowing what our customers want, intermediating on business dreams and what can be done.

  • Providing clear risk and governance guidance to business partners to support delivery of business priorities
  • Developing and maintaining robust governance frameworks (in line with UKD ORCM Risk framework) to ensure that a strong control environment exists with accountabilities clearly defined
  • Successful management of material CORR risks to the QMH business ensuring risk owners consider QMH business in risk control assessments
  • Regular maintenance and assessment of QMH specific risks and controls in iCare e.g. managing distributors, customer service, product management
  • Using and understanding of iCare risk management systems
  • Championing the best methodology for governance through continual process enhancement and improvement
  • Providing Governance and Risk Management in the 1st Line to maximise the likelihood of business goals being achieved and to reduce the probability of failure
  • Identifying risk and loss events - management, resolution and reporting
  • Working directly with the QMH senior leadership team on emerging regulatory change and owning the delivery of the requirements to the business
  • Facilitating embedding a risk aware culture and better risk ownership amongst product owners/process owners
  • Engaging with both internal and external business partners on all risk and governance matters \" covering UKD 1st line and 2nd line risk teams, internal audit, UKI risk teams, Legal, data governance, operations, complaints


What skills, qualifications & experiences are required?
  • Preferable qualification in Risk Management (certification, diploma etc.)
  • In depth knowledge of regulation within financial services sector covering FCA regulation, FCA handbook/ICOBS, ICO Data Protection
  • Data governance including GDPR regulation
  • Business skills around problem-solving and root cause analysis
  • Knowledge of Financial Services market and regulatory frameworks
  • Strong knowledge of the principles of Systems Thinking
  • Knowledge of the Personal Lines business area and related product suites
  • Advanced commercial planning and organisational skills
  • Problem solving and analytical skills to identify the root cause and resolve performance blockages
  • Positive attitude towards change and continuous improvement
