We have an exciting opportunity and require an outstanding Risk and Insurance Officer to be based in Canary Wharf. This is a permanent full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary of £25,000 to £35,000 per annum, dependent on skills and experience.

The Insurance team provides insurance advice to all levels of the business on insurance coverage issues and related matters and works collaboratively with numerous other functions such as legal, H&S, motor fleet, procurement, finance and HR.

The team also provides a support service to all departments with the aim of minimising the company\'s exposure to financial loss & liability, it is responsible for developing & implementing an active operational risk management programme across UK Business Units at all levels, coupled with the provision of appropriate insurance cover.

Main Responsibilities/Duties Include:

* Manage the insurance database system, including accurate policy record keeping and ensure that all emails and documents are uploaded in a timely manner as per the guidelines.

* Ensure all relevant documentation and information is obtained from the UK business units, SHEQ team and HR where appropriate and ensure all relevant documentation is obtained to fully investigate liability supported by legal statutes and case law. Ensure all relevant documentation is passed to stakeholders in a timely manner with the post holder\'s views on liability.

* Produce analytical reports for service managers and line management upon request.

* Keep abreast of changing legislation and market practice relating to provision of an insurance programme.

* Assist the Insurance & Risk Manager with the renewal process, which will include collection of relevant data, to be able to sense check that data and incorporate into an appropriate format in preparation for disclosing to brokers.

* Check policy documentation issued by brokers and constructively challenge where this is not accurate.

* Assist the Insurance & Risk Manager with premium apportionment for the coompany across a number of classes of insurance.

* Provide advice to the business on bid documentation and (sub-)contract wording

* Responsibility to manage all claims allocated to the post holder within legal time frames and authority levels including a thorough investigation of liability supported by statutes and/or case law. Fully conversant with CPR and MOJ requirements.

* Acknowledge correspondence received in a timely manner and ensure that all open claims have an appropriate diary in accordance with guidelines provided.

* Analyse and monitor the claims handling by external parties and ensure that the service is operating in a cost effective manner. Identify trends and provide MI reporting to the insurance & risk manager.

* Deliver presentations and workshops to the business linking claims information with lessons learnt and advise the business on areas of improvement.

Knowledge and Skills for Risk and Insurance Officer

* Ability to assimilate information and provide clear advice upon it; ability to work in a demanding environment.

* To be able to demonstrate an appropriate level of technical knowledge and experience in policy coverages involving numerous classes of business and the ability to advise the business on queries involving different policies within the guidelines.

* Ability to analyse issues and situations and have a general understanding of the wider audience and impact that a decision could have on other functions and different levels of the business.

* The technical ability to challenge insurers, third party providers and solicitors\' decisions in a constructive manner both in relation to insurance coverage issues, insurance policy wordings and current insurance market practice as well as claims decisions supported by an adequate level of knowledge of statutes and case law.

* Ensure all high value and/or complex claims are referred to the insurance & risk manager for involvement/advice, as required.

* Ensure any contentious issues or activities that could have an adverse impact upon the company either of a financial, reputational or other nature are brought to the insurance & risk manager\'s attention.

Qualifications & required Experience:

* Recent experience either in a similar in-house role, insurance broker or insurance company demonstrating a technical background.

* Being fully conversant with CPR and MOJ requirements and a good grasp of appropriate statute and case law.

* Part qualified with the CII exams ideally to Dip CII level and evidencing current and steady study progression.

* Proficient in Excel, Outlook, Word, Power point and bespoke database systems.

* Working knowledge of risk management practices.

* Demonstrate analytical and numerical capability
