Risk Engineer
The Thames Tideway Tunnel will be a major new sewer to prevent the tens of millions of tonnes of untreated sewage which discharge into the tidal River Thames every year. It is one of the largest construction projects of its type in Europe. The project involves construction at 24 sites across London delivered by 3 separate joint venture companies and is 60% complete.
At this key stage in the project we are reorganising our resources to establish a new Programme Management Office team to monitor and report on the progress of work against our target schedule and cost plans.
Role Outline/Responsibilities
Within the Integrated PMO, working for the Risk Manager, the Risk Co-ordinator will support the management, integration, analysis and reporting of programme wide and corporate risk, undertaking all responsibilities and tasks in accordance with Tideway policies, strategies, processes and procedures.
He/she works closely with the Tideway Functional leads and the Schedule and Cost leads and shall support the Risk Manager in their:
* responsibility for assuring compliance with the Tideway Risk Policy, Strategy and Management plans, and addressing any non-compliances
* assurance of risk data quality and validity
* delivery of monthly and quarterly performance management reports
* leading of risk management activities for Corporate Level risks
* coordination of the management of High Impact Low Probability (HILP) Risks
* provision of secretariat services to the Corporate Risk Committee and the Executive Risk Committee (ERC)
* leading the interface between Risk, EWN, trend, and change processes
Provide risk management support to the Tideway functions including operational readiness, system commissioning, property etc. In this role the Risk Engineer shall:
* facilitate risk workshops at all levels from Strategic Level to Function/task level
* Ensure that the ARM risk database is maintained through updating records to ensure quality & accuracy of data
* work with the functional leads to maintain Tideway Owned Risks, identifying all new or changing risks, and facilitating risk scoring to accurately model in ARM
* assess each risk with its Risk Owner - and other subject matter experts as necessary - to collectively agree its probability, and a three-point estimate (best case, worst case and most likely) on the magnitude of its impact in terms of cost and/or time, and less frequently reputation, health safety and welfare, and the environment
Experience
* demonstrable experience of delivering high standard risk management function with construction or engineering industry
* experience in delivery and communication of risk management processes and procedures
* significant experience in producing Quantitative Cost Risk Analysis on complex multidisciplinary programmes using ARM or similar
* experience in producing detailed programme and project level risk and change management reports to tight deadlines
Skills & Competencies
* sound knowledge of Change, Schedule and Cost Management Processes and procedures and how these integrate with the Risk Function
* experienced user of risk systems
* able to articulate schedule risk data to non specialist audiences
* good presentation, facilitation & teamwork skills
* excellent written and verbal communication
Education & Qualifications
* educated to degree level (Risk or Geotechnical/Engineering discipline preferred but not essential)
* Risk Management qualifications
