Risk Governance Senior Manager

Description:

Visa identifies and measures risk and develops strategies to manage and monitor the risk and aid achievement of business objectives. The Regulatory Risk team protects Visa by effectively managing supervisory relationships to, deliver Supervisory Priorities, ensure appropriate risk governance oversight, and identify changes in regulatory environment to address as appropriate. The Regulatory Risk team supports Visa's growth by ensuring strategic initiatives consider regulatory requirements.
As the Risk Governance Senior Manager, you will be responsible for maintenance and operationalisation of Visa's European internal risk corporate governance. In order to achieve this, you will be responsible for the end-to-end review of the Risk Governance landscape to identify gaps in review controls and evolve the committee charters and forward-looking agendas to cover any areas lacking appropriate oversight. This role will also engage with senior stakeholders internally to coordinate delivery of materials for the Europe Risk Sub Committee (ERSC), European Risk Committee (ERC) and the Board Risk Committee (BRC).

Stakeholder management:
• Building effective relationships as a trusted business partner, working closely with executive/management team to build a culture that encourages forward and commercial thinking to embed risk management in decision making
• Working collaboratively across the risk function to support cross functional objectives managing the development and on-going improvement of Visa Europe's risk governance framework together with supporting processes and toolkits to drive risk awareness and accountability in our business
Governance Framework
• Responsible for the end-to-end review of the Risk Governance landscape to identify gaps in review controls.
• Document the Risk Governance Framework and supporting committee cadence
• Evolve the committee charters and forward-looking agendas to cover any areas lacking appropriate oversight, while ensuring alignment with Board and Global Governance mandates
• Ensuring the operation of an effective risk governance framework to demonstrate discussion and management of the most material risks to VEL
• Joint secretariat for the Europe Risk Committee and Europe Risk Sub-committee
• Develop and maintain clear, relevant, and accurate risk information to ensure CRO provides relevant information to relevant governance committees.
• Monitor evolving best governance practice, including roles of risk committees, responsibilities and reporting lines for key risk functions, risk adjustment. Escalate emerging practice to relevant stakeholders
• Responsibility for the independent second line risk and governance reporting for the Executive & Boards, supporting the VEL CRO
• Contributing to design, implementation and management of the risk and control assessment frameworks
Strategic Thinking:
• Understanding the strategic priorities and business plans, ensuring that the aligned Risk team provides proactive risk and compliance advice
• Responsible for managing delivery against the Annual Risk Review deliverables through appropriate governance ensuring robust review and challenge prior to BoE submission.
• Influencing and relationship building to drive change with senior stakeholders, board members and non-executive directors
• Develop process for ensuring NBIA proposals receive appropriate review by regulatory risk team prior to implementation.
• Project management including scope, risk management, governance and oversight, policy and standards, process improvements and reporting
• Contributing to an effective 3 lines of defence (LoD), responsible for ensuring the 1st LoD is aware of its obligations and that effective 2nd LoD risk oversight and challenge is provided.
• Responsible for review and update of Risk Identification for the Regulatory Risk and Governance team.
• Building strong relationships to cross silos:
o Work closely across Risk Europe
o Work closely with relevant Global Centres of Excellence
o Work closely with other VEL Functions
• Working collaboratively with the Businesses and other functions to deliver key Business projects and initiatives
• Working collaboratively with other departments in Risk Europe and Global Risk to:
o Deliver the Risk Europe strategy
o Support delivery of the Global Risk strategy
o Optimise efficiencies
o Deliver appropriate consistency in risk management
o Deliver key projects and initiatives
• Using management information, metrics, and analysis to inform business decision-making and to measure progress against goals and desirable outcomes
• Identifying key risk topics for escalation to the RELT
• Supporting, training, and sharing expertise with other colleagues in VEL and globally
• Contributing to a "best in class" Function/ Department recognised across VEL and globally as:
