Risk Manager - Housing / Care & Support

Location: Nottingham or London

£45,000 - £50,000 p/a

Permanent - Full Time

The Risk Manager will be responsible for the development and management of operational risk frameworks and registers for the Customer Services Directorate, as well as contributing to corporate frameworks. They will also lead on reporting and monitoring for several aspects of regulated activity within the directorate, alongside service resilience and some aspects of business continuity.

This role

As the manager of a small team, you will be responsible for the development and management of operational risk frameworks and registers for the Customer Services Directorate, as well as contributing to corporate frameworks. You will also lead on reporting and monitoring for several aspects of regulated activity within the directorate, alongside service resilience and some aspects of business continuity.

A key aspect of the role will be to develop and lead new approaches to operational risk identification across the directorate, focussing on a 'bottom up' approach. You will be the lead person for the ongoing management of risk processes for the directorate, and partner with colleagues to support them in identification, implementation, and monitoring of appropriate mitigation.

What you'll need to succeed

Experience in operational risk management, including the creation, management and monitoring of risk management processes, is essential.

You should be able to articulate operational challenges and pressures for effective risk management and have knowledge or experience of emergency preparedness, resilience, or business continuity.

Excellent communications skills (including written, verbal, presentations and IT literacy)

* Good influencing/diplomacy skills and the ability to balance competing interests and objectives, whilst supporting colleagues to do the same.

* Able to articulate operational challenges and pressures for effective risk management.

* Collaborative and supportive approach to building positive and productive working relationships with colleagues at all levels.

* Confident in taking a partnering or coaching role with peers and colleagues to, for example, identify operational risks and explore potential mitigation.

* Open to challenge, and able to support colleagues with constructive input and challenge around their work.

* Calm and methodical when working under pressure.

* Able to see the big picture and foresee impact of decisions

* Experience in operational risk management, including creation of risk registers and frameworks.

* Experience developing and managing monitoring frameworks.

* Knowledge or experience of emergency preparedness, resilience, or business continuity.
