The Project:

The DDAT (ES Ops) is reviewing its operational risk management model, with a view to identifying gaps, optimising processes, and ensuring alignment with the DDAT and wider HO risk framework. We need an experienced risk manager to lead this work.

The Role of a Risk & Issue Lead

There is an opportunity to join this dynamic team as a Risk Manager (Operations/Remediation/Compliance) who must support the ethos of the Function to develop a new culture of excellence across project delivery, with a can-do attitude; are pro-active.

In this role, you will monitor the delivery of risk assurance across ES Ops' change portfolios and business as usual (BAU) functions. You will report to the Operational Assurance Lead and will champion risk assurance across ES Ops, providing subject matter expertise and quality risk management and assurance to develop the function's maturity.

An important part of this role is applying a continuous improvement approach to both risk and reporting work, identifying areas for improvement, and working with teams across the function to deliver strategic solutions. You will have the opportunity to develop effective working relationships with other risk and assurance leads across DDaT and help to build the community and support the DDaT SMT to make informed decisions.

Essential Skills:

Compliance/Operational/Remediation risk experience not Project Risk

Champion Risk assurance

Review the ways things are managed within the Risk function

Review Risk and mitigate Risk controls

Developing and delivering a schedule of risk management assurance audits

Identify areas for improvement

Strong practical experience

Strong communication skills - written and verbal

Ensuring continuous improvement of the risk assurance process

Educating stakeholders on risk management best practice

Build relationships with the other Risk and Assurance Leads across DDAT

Report into the Operation lead

Typical Role Responsibilities

· Leading the development, implementation and oversight of the Programme Risk and Issue Logs, Assurance of Workstream Risk and Issue Logs, Risk, and Issue governance reporting dashboards.

· Identifying, describing, and estimating the risks affecting the business.

· Supporting governance and risk reporting to stakeholders and senior meetings.

· Determine weekly priorities and activities and assign tasks to the HEOs in the team.

· Embedding the risk and issue management processes, updating policies and procedures as necessary

· Promoting compliance with risk and issue management policies, ensuring lessons learned are captured and inform future risk and issue management responses.

· Provide assurance on the effectiveness of the risk and issue management process

· Lead professional stakeholder relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and act as the lead point of contact.

· Actively support the Head of PMO, Head of Profession and Programme Managers when required

· Establish a personal SMART development career plan to demonstrate commitment in progressing in the Programme/Project Management Office profession.
