Risk Manager Job - Southampton - Banking & Financial Services - up to c£53,000 DOE

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Operational and Enterprise Risk Management professional to join this leading financial services provider based near Southampton.

Your new role
The purpose of this role is to support the group-wide Risk team in the management and development of the businesses risk management framework and strategy. This broad role offers exposure to senior management, an opportunity to learn about this high-growth business from the ground up and excellent career progression and development opportunities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight in an operational lead capacity for day to day risk management activities including oversight for scheduling and monitoring workloads to ensure that all deadlines are met
  • Work with business units to understand their business drivers, concerns and key risks
  • Undertake and review Business Risk Assessment (BRA) process
  • Undertake ad-hoc risk assessments and report findings to senior management to provide assurance over the effectiveness of internal controls
  • Oversight and Monitoring of the risk management frameworks
  • Responsible for analysis and review of operational risk events to ensure that they are accurately captured, investigated (root cause analysis) and where appropriate, corrective action taken
  • Responsible for the performance of trend analysis of operational risk events across the Group on a quarterly basis
  • Participation in thematic reviews to provide assurance to executive committees over the management of key risks
  • Compile and oversee the production of periodic risk reports to senior committees and forums
  • Undertake analysis to ensure that the risks associated with new business are identified, documented and that the risk profile of new clients and client mandates are clearly understood and aligned with company risk appetite
  • Involvement in the management and administration of the New Business Committee (NBC), including attendance at NBC meetings to record minutes and follow-up of NBC actions to ensure identified risks are appropriately managed
  • Act as the lead for Risk projects forming part of the Risk Plan, ensuring that all deadlines are met and that deliverables are of a high quality
  • Support in the review and development of the Risk Management Framework
  • Assist in educating and training employees of all levels to build risk awareness
  • Assist the business with setting risk appetite and tolerance levels and developing and monitoring Key Risk Indicators


What you'll need to succeed
You will be an accomplished Risk Manager with relevant experience in enterprise or operational risk management within the financial services sector. Good knowledge of fund and corporate services would be advantageous. Familiarity and understanding of the UK and Channel Islands regulatory environment would be advantageous. Ability to take ownership, demonstrate initiative and be results orientated. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a relationship driven approach to develop close working relationships with key stakeholders across all organisational levels. Ability to work individually and collaboratively in a team environment across Group jurisdictions. Results orientated, self-motivated, able to take ownership and demonstrate initiative, to negotiate, influence, build consensus and successfully navigate within a demanding environment.
