Senior Accounting Risk Expert

A Senior Accounting Risk Expert to join its Financial Risk Control Centre team in the City of London. We are seeking experienced accounting risk experts with direct experience of our industry, in order to facilitate the management of global accounting risk in the context of the rapid growth of the Group.

Main Responsibilities:

Work on solutions with the various COEs (Center of Excellence) on the accounting risks and controls inherent in and applied to new and existing businesses. These solutions need to reflect not only industry best practice but also independent thought leadership and the specific strategies and business models of Huawei.

Identify material business and financial reporting risks with a view to conducting root cause analysis and make practical, industry and company relevant recommendations to address those risks to improve the accounting risk management.

The Candidate:

The work combines skills drawn from financial accounting controllership, risk management and business partnering roles, and will suit someone with a strong accounting and controller background. Successful applications will meet some or all of the following requirements.

Experience profile:

Either:

Significant leadership experience working in the central finance department of a European or American publicly listed technology or telecommunications company (eg: IBM, Ericsson, Nokia, Cisco, Apple, Samsung, Microsoft, or Amazon preferred), with significant exposure to the financial reporting risks and related process/control environments of these industries. This experience will have equipped the individual to understand end-to-end financial reporting risks in the context of the underlying business risks;

Or:

Significant leadership experience working in a major accounting firm, most likely in an accounting/risk advisory role. A deep understanding of the ICT industry is required, with specialist knowledge of financial reporting risks and related process/control environments of this sector. Direct experience of accounting policy implementation and internal controls over financial reporting is required. As above, this experience will have equipped the individual to understand end-to-end financial reporting risks in the context of the underlying business risks. Significant finance experience in emerging areas such as Cloud and Intelligent Automobile Services would be advantageous.

Qualifications and personal qualities:

  • Bachelor Degree or above, preferably in a business or finance related field
  • Candidates must be familiar with the expected changes to IFRS and US GAAP
  • Strong communicator, orally and in writing, and capable of explaining difficult concepts clearly and concisely (including delivery to non- native English speakers)
  • Strong people skills
  • Project management skills are required to successfully implement project deliverables
  • Ability to use quantitative methods to identify and mitigate risk
  • Identify impacts, risks, new directions, improvements and innovative solutions
