You will support the Financial Risk Director and Chief Risk Officer in managing risk across the British Business Bank (BBB) but with a specific focus on managing financial risk across the Future Fund and Future Fund Breakthrough portfolios and, more generally, the Bank's venture capital activities. The Future Fund (FF) was announced by the Chancellor in April 2020 and issued convertible loans to innovative UK companies that typically relied on equity investment and had been affected by COVID-19. £1.2bn of Convertible Loan Agreements to over 1200 companies have been approved and the scheme closed earlier this year. Future Fund Breakthrough (FFB) was announced by the Chancellor in this year's Budget and will launch in early Summer 2021. It is a new £375 million UK-wide scheme which will encourage private investors to co-invest with government and high-growth innovative firms.

Reporting to the Senior Risk Manager - Transactions, you will coordinate day to day activities between the Risk team and the FF and FFB product teams. You will provide risk input and challenge around portfolio management for FF including conversion, redemption, exit and default events. You will provide risk analysis on transactions, represent the risk team at investment committees and exercise delegated approval authority where necessary.

It is essential that you have a good understanding of venture capital markets and lifecycle of venture capital investments. You will have significant experience of portfolio management and of conducting due diligence on venture capital investments, both via direct investment and through funds. You will have significant experience of valuation, monitoring and reporting on venture capital investments and managing the relationship with front office colleagues. It is desirable that you have experience of assessing fund managers and investment strategies in addition to an understanding of debt markets and lending.

We continue to work from home but will return to the office when safe to do so. The Bank supports flexible working and we would welcome applications from any candidates who will need to continue with an element of home working, on the understanding that travel to the office will be necessary when business needs require.

As a Senior Manager at the Bank it is expected that you will role model candour and integrity, you will support the wellbeing of colleagues, encourage diversity of thought, and strive for continuous improvement. You will be collaborative, celebrate differences and inspire a culture of inclusion.
