The Operational Risk team is responsible for ALD's Operational Risk Management strategy, namely; ensuring risks are being identified, assessed, controlled and escalated as necessary. The team is also responsible for Financial Crime prevention, and ALD's Anti-Money Laundering policies and practices.

Considering the importance of departmental activity and output, we are seeking an addition to the team to simply increase productivity as a unit. We're currently experiencing increased workload and support at a senior level, for an initial period of 9 months, would enable us to meet our departmental goals. We are seeking a capable and experienced Operational Risk Analyst who can illustrate ability to question, influence and initiate change as indicated below;

Key Purpose

  • Support our 1st line business teams with identifying, assessing and managing operational risks
  • Provide expert guidance on designing and operating controls
  • Implement our operational risk framework

Summary or Responsibilities

  • Provide risk management training
  • Lead risk and control workshops
  • Support the 1st line in designing controls
  • Complete Quality Assurance on the control universe
  • Provide feedback and coaching on control quality
  • Implement operational risk appetite metrics and key risk indicators
  • Create & implement risk management policies
  • Proactively identify improvements to the management of risk
  • Proactively improve the operational risk framework
  • Provide reporting for senior committees
  • Undertake oversight reviews as required

Key Skills / Experience

  • Previous experience in operational risk (that illustrates ability to execute the responsibilities indicated)
  • Must be self-motivated - able to act under own initiative and manage own deadlines
  • Excellent communication i.e. face to face, telephone, e-mail
  • High quality report writing
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Good level of numeracy
  • Excellent time management & organisation
  • Operational risk management qualification (e.g. IRM) would be advantageous
  • Background in financial services/regulated industry
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management frameworks would be a bonus
